Using the restore feature

You can restore a repository backup from the repository manager.

As you work from a specific configuration in Talend Data Catalog, the structure of the backup must match the current configuration, including the configuration name and the folder path in the repository. If they do not match, you should create a new empty folder and restore there.

When restoring a backup, objects that already exist in the repository are reused and not overwritten by the content of the backup.

Before you begin

  • You have been assigned a global role with the Application Administration capability.
  • You have been assigned an object role with the Metadata Management capability on the folder where you will restore the backup.

Procedure

  1. Go to MANAGE > Repository.
  2. In the Repository manager panel, select or create a folder with a name matching the configuration name.
  3. Right-click the folder and select Restore.
You can also restore a configuration from the configuration manager. The Restore menu item is only visible when you have an assigned object role with the Metadata Management capability on the configuration. The configuration management and version management features are not enabled.
  4. Select the backup ZIP file on the server machine where the backup is stored.
  5. Click Restore.
Once completed, the content appears in the repository tree.
