Installing Talend JobServer as a service on systemd-based Linux systems

Before you begin

All the following commands must be executed with super-user privileges.

Procedure

  1. Create the service file with the following command:
    touch /etc/systemd/system/Talend-JobServer.service
  2. Assign the relevant rights to the file you created:
    chmod 664 /etc/systemd/system/Talend-JobServer.service
  3. Paste the following content in the file while adapting it to your configuration: 
    [Unit]
Description=Talend Execution Server (JobServer) service
After=network.target

[Service]
Type=forking
Environment=JAVA_HOME=/opt/jdk1.8.0_201/jre
Environment=PATH=/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/opt/jdk1.8.0_201/jre/bin
ExecStart=/opt/Talend-7x1/jobserver/start_jobserver.sh
ExecStop=/opt/Talend-7x1/jobserver/stop_jobserver.sh
User=talenduser
Group=talendgroup
Restart=on-abort

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

    If you want to use different Java versions to launch Talend JobServer and to execute Jobs, define the PATH and JAVA_HOME variables as described in Configuring the JVM for your Talend JobServer (optional).

  4. Reload the service daemon:
    systemctl daemon-reload
  5. Start the service:
    systemctl start Talend-JobServer.service
