Registering an API client

Before you begin

This task assumes that you have taken all the steps described in Generating a certificate and key files for your Workday user account and have logged into Workday using your user account credentials.

Launch the Register API Client task by entering Register API Client in the search bar and clicking Register API Client in the search result list.
The Register API Client page appears.
Information noteNote: To launch a task or a report in Workday, enter a part or the full name of the task or the report in the search bar on the top of the Workday page and click the desired task or report in the result list that appears under the search bar.
Enter your settings in the fields marked with red stars and click OK.
The page refreshes and lists the information about the API client.
Information noteNote:
- Be sure to select the Jwt Bearer Grant option and the Bearer option to specify OAuth JWT authentication for the user account.
- Store these settings in the refreshed page in a safe place for later use: Client ID, Workday REST API Endpoint, Token Endpoint, and Authorization Endpoint.
Add the user to user-based security groups.
1. Launch the Assign Users to User-Based Security Group task.
  The Assign Users to User-Based Security Group page appears.
2. Click in the User-Based Security Group field to expand the user-based security group list.
3. Browse and select the desired user-based security group and click OK.
4. Repeat step a through step c to add the user to other user-based security groups as needed.
